What to consider when travelling with pets and dogs

Much of the UK is a great place to travel with your pets, however, some pet-friendly accommodations seem more popular than others.  Some of the most visited places in England, Scotland & Wales include The Dales & Moors and the Lake District.

Each of these is brilliant because they offer unique, dog-friendly beaches in the South to the breathtaking landscapes of Northern England. When looking, remember a few key points so that you all have a tail-wagging time:

  • Car Journeys – Whether it’s travelling a short drive or 8 hours to your cottage, be sure to check that your pup is comfortable, has good space to move and is regularly hydrated. Stop and allow them to go to the toilet and stretch their legs for longer journeys.
  • Attractions – Before you book, look at some of the attractions around the area for days out that accept pups. You don’t want to be bored and stuck in your cottage, so it is always a good idea to plan ahead.
  • Pubs and Restaurants – If you are going to leave your pets in the cottage (check first, in some properties, they are not allowed to be alone) whilst you go for dinner, make sure they are not stressed as new surroundings might be difficult for them to adjust to. However, many holiday cottages that allow dogs often have a list of dog friendly pubs and local places to dine where you can all go and be welcome.
