Things To Do in Beadnell

If you would rather spend your holiday taking it easy, then all you have to do is put on your cozzies and trunks, pack the beach bag and take a leisurely stroll to the harbour where, just beyond it, lies a two-mile stretch of gold beach. In peak season, you might want to walk the extra distance beyond the popular bay to find your own spot away from the hustle and bustle. Here the younger ones can build sandcastles while you get your dose of Vitamin D while watching the surfers catch waves that on some days reach 15ft.

The village shop has a well-stocked convenience store, and the Craster Arms is a family and dog-friendly pub that serves freshly caught fish and chips. You can relax out in the beer garden with a glass of chilled Lindisfarne elderflower wine or a pint of Farne Island amber ale. If you want to step it up a notch, then book lunch or dinner at the pub’s sister eatery, The Salt Water Café on The Wynding’s. Its Small Plates’ Experience is full of provenance and includes monkfish scampi, Craster kipper pate, Lindisfarne oysters and Provencal fish soup with gruyere rouille.

Trips further afield include a fascinating day out on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. It only takes 20 minutes by car from Beach House, but if walking is what your holiday is going to be about, then the 14-mile coastal route on foot is going to take you the best part of a day. Perhaps one of the less energetic party could drive to Lindisfarne to meet you and take you back before the tide comes in.

Last Word

If you require that extra bit of pampering on your time away, then the Beach House certainly sets the tone. The stylish interior will afford you a feeling of luxury and the main bedroom with its en suite and Juliette balcony is on the top for, away from the other two rooms for that extra bit of privacy.

While some of the party choose to play golf, you might want to spend a few leisurely hours having a sumptuous afternoon tea that starts with a glass of bubbly at the Salt Water Café. Then there is the option of travelling just eight miles inland to treat yourself to a spa day at the family-run Beau Monde Day Spa. A treat that provides five hours of indulgence includes a hot drink on arrival, fluffy gown, towel and slippers, afternoon tea, use of the indoor pool and all the other facilities, and a 60-minute spa or beauty treatment of your choice.

Be it putting on the 18th hole at sunset, beachcombing at dawn, taking a boat ride to an archipelago of islands teeming with bird and sea life, experiencing the perfect way to destress at a day spa or a simple trip to an authentic pub for a pint, your time away on this beautiful stretch of England’s coast is going to make you want to come back for more.
