Things To Do in Threshfield

You are just off the village green of this perfectly formed Yorkshire Dales’ stone cottage. The pub is a two-minute walk, and it is here you can enjoy a local ale and get to know the regulars and their Rovers. The award-winning Old Hall Inn has an extensive garden menu where your meals are prepared in the firepit and you can enjoy them alfresco in the great outdoor space.

You are in Wharfdale, one of the valleys in the beautiful part of Yorkshire, and the flagship market town of the region is Grassington, just a mile’s walk from your doorstep. It is jam-packed with events throughout the year, from the Grassington Music and Arts Festival in June to its famous Christmas market at the end of the year. Its recently introduced 1940s weekend is fast becoming a hit and this where you will see the streets decked with wartime bunting and locals in WWII uniforms.

The River Wharfe is a magnet for those who enjoy scenic walks and there are more challenging trails over the moors of Grassington and Barden. Use the handy Dalesbuses if your route isn’t circular. The Grass Wood Nature Reserve is just a mile outside Grassington. It is a magical spot, one of the biggest broadleaf woodlands in the area. It is mainly ash and hazel and is a haven for insects, birds, and all kinds of wildflowers. In autumn, the forest floor is adorned with multi-coloured mushrooms such as puffballs, milk and clouded funnel caps.

Last Word

This is a part of the Yorkshire Dales that is going to steal your heart with the River Wharfe flowing just below the cottage and the charming market town of Grassington, a leisurely stroll away. Enjoy your camomile tea on the bench outside this semi-detached stone cottage and take in the spectacular views of the Dales.

Real thought, love and attention have gone into presenting this holiday home with the furnishings, fixtures and fittings done to a high spec. Your pets aren’t forgotten either and you will find a hamper for them on arrival that comes with Arden Grange dry food, a chewing bone, bowl, and even Pawfection Puppy and Dog Lavender shampoo. In the farmhouse eat-in kitchen, you are also in for a treat with a range of coffees and teas, as well as locally made pork pies and a decanter of port.

Walking, cycling and immersing yourself in the essence of the Dales is what this break is all about. It is an ideal destination for a family or friends who relish the great outdoors. Even though it might seem you are off the beaten track, there is a well-stocked shop that includes a butcher and baker’s counter, as well as a petrol station, just a four-minute walk from the front door.
