Bay Dream has a spacious, open plan living area with south-facing French doors opening on to a small patio ideal for alfresco dining and there are picnic spots around the lakes.
This new build in the typical North Yorkshire vernacular it sleeps four in two upstairs bedrooms, a double and a twin both with TVs. There is also a bathroom with a shower over the tub.
Downstairs there is a WC and basin off the main open plan living space that includes a contemporary galley-style kitchen with a washer/dryer and dishwasher. The sitting room with a TV and Nintendo console, flows through to the dining area that has French doors leading outside.
There is an enclosed, private space for alfresco dining and an allocated parking bay outside the cottage. Within an exclusive holiday complex there is a gym, sauna, steam room, heated swimming pool and two lakes.
You’d be forgiven for not leaving the confines of the idyllic North Yorkshire holiday development. After taking the pooch for a morning stroll around the two lakes in the complex, you can go for a work-out in the well-equipped gym followed by either a sauna or a steam room treat. Picnic areas overlook the lakes that teem with birdlife and hours can be spent on the putting green or tennis court. For an additional fee you can book snorkelling, archery and fencing lessons. The site also includes a beauticians offering a range of treatments from facials to pedicures and a coffee shop.
Hunmanby Gap is a non-touristy beach with gold sands that is just 15-minute walk from the cottage where you can explore the rock pools and even take a dip in the clean waters that gentle roll onto the shore. The sea creates pools when the tide goes out that are warm enough for toddlers to paddle in. On a hot, sunny day it is said to rival the coastlines of Portugal and Spain. Overlooking the beach is a quaint café that serves refreshments and a great bacon and egg bap. Dogs are welcome all year round and the 2.8-mile walk to Filey is recommended.
Filey is worth a visit with its Blue Flag beach, fine promenades and parks. The Buccaneer on Union Street, a pub in an old cinema, serves a good selection of real ales and regularly hosts live bands.
