Things To Do in Hunmanby Moor

You’d be forgiven for not leaving the comfort and conveniences of this idyllic North Yorkshire holiday development. After taking the pup for a morning pootle around the lakes, you can work out in the gym and eventually relax by taking a dip in the heated indoor pool, taking a sauna, or spending some time in the steam room.
Picnic spots are on the lakes teeming with waterfowl and geese. Alternatively, you can spend time on the tennis court or putting green. For a small fee, learn how to snorkel and take archery and fencing lessons. The site also includes beauticians offering a range of treatments from facials to pedicures and a coffee shop.

Hunmanby Gap is a non-touristy beach with golden sands that is just a 10-minute stroll from Greengables, where you can explore the rock pools and take a dip in the clean waters that gentle roll onto the shore. Overlooking the beach is a café that serves refreshments and light bites. Dogs are welcome at any time of the year, and a day can be spent walking the 2.8-miles along the sand to Filey and back.

Filey is worth a visit with its award-winning Blue Flag beach, two promenades and parks overlooking the sea. There’s an unusual pub on Union Street in an old movie theatre conversion that has a selection of real ales and has live bands playing throughout the year.
Several cafés serve full English breakfasts and dressed crab salad lunches, and most of these are dog friendly. The main beach, the Sunday Times Best Beach in Britain 2018, has enough golden sand for everyone, and there is no shortage of refreshment vendors selling everything from iced water to ice-creams.

Last Word

The Bay is so great because there are activities and entertainment all around you. While the kids practice their golf skills on the putting course, and Dad can enjoy a pint at The John Paul Jones and Mum a massage at the treatment spa.

The first-floor accommodation is conveniently all on one level, and the main bedroom has an en suite shower. Outside the bottom door is a vast expanse of lawn where the dogs and children can exert their energy, and there are designated picnic and BBQ facilities.
Greengables offers family-friendly accommodation: a home-from-home with its spacious dining and comfy sofa space and a well-equipped kitchen that includes a handy washing machine.

There is no way boredom will creep in on rainy days here because the heated indoor pool, activity centre, and the pub with its roaring fire will keep the whole family entertained. If you do find the time to venture beyond the gates of this superb development, the seaside town of Filey is just three miles away.
