Things To Do in The Bay, Filey

Like no other, this is a holiday village set in tranquil parkland with lakes and meadows offering walking and cycling trails that suit all fitness and age levels. While Dad takes the young ones to an archery lesson or to do a stint on the Crazy Carts circuit, Mum might want to press pause and take time out in the Beauty Room that has a range of treatments. Generally, it is recommended to book in advance. Have a destressing body massage before entering into the holiday vibe with a spray tan. If you would rather be served a full English than cook it, the Bayside Kitchen, just a few minutes’ walk from the door, offers breakfasts until 11.30 am and from noon ploughman’s lunches and afternoon tea and cake.

Change your drift after a few luxurious dips in the heated indoor pool and take the 10-minute walk down to the golden sands of Hunmanby Gap. This unspoilt part of the North Yorkshire coast is ideal for a bracing dip but should only be attempted if you’re a good swimmer because the beach doesn’t have lifeguards. Wait until the tide is out when tiny tots and four-legged family members can splash about in the rockpools. The beach is lined with cliffs that yield a good collection of stones and pebbles, and if you look closely enough, you might find a fossil. Treat yourself to ice cream on the way back up to The Bay at the beach café on the clifftop.

You can take a leisurely 2.8-mile stroll along the sand to Filey, which has been voted one of the top 20 beaches in Europe in 2021. Filey has two impressive promenades, and on Scarborough Road, there is the Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park, a popular attraction for the younger ones. It has an enchanting secret garden where you might catch a glimpse of the resident barn owl, and you’ll certainly not miss the chipmunks scurrying about in the clear tunnels overhead.

Last Word

This is a place where you can pitch up, unpack and let the little people and puppies loose and sit back and feel the stresses of everyday life slip away. You might want to pop over to the on-site shop and stock up on ice so that you have a super-cold G&T on the decking of this lovely beach house.

Lobster Pot is in the New-England style of wooden cottages, and its crisp, white and hues-of-blue interior will provide you with a sense of calm. If you don’t want to lift a finger during your stay, then the on-site facilities will make this easy for you to do. There’s a pub where Dad can have a pint of real ale or lager, and Mum can have a glass of chilled white wine and where the children can choose a
Once you’ve really unwound beyond The Bay,wood-panelled there are attractions like no other such as the miles and miles of soft sandy beaches to the bird haven of nearby Bempton cliffs.
