No visit to this charming market town situated in a spectacular rural landscape is complete without a visit to the home of its most famous resident William Wordsworth, one of the country's most famous poets and one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Lake District.

Yes, dogs are only allowed in the front garden, but you can still take a selfie, and there is also a popular dog walk that begins here, so you can "wander lonely as a cloud, That floats on high o’er vales and hills". It's quite a challenge at 8 miles and nearly 3 hours but well worth it for the breathtaking views.

Stop by and discover the fascinating history of this quaint market town, Just off the main street with its car parks and shops. These panels tell stories from Roman times, through to Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian, who instigated the Mutiny on The Bounty to this centuries floods.
