Things To Do in Sennen Cove

Down from this luxurious holiday home is the white sands of Sennen’s mile-long beach. Just a 15-minute walk will find you here and if there are any surfers in your party they will be heading straight out to the swells. If you’ve always wanted to learn how to ride the waves then Sennen Cove has its own surf school. A one-to-one 90-minute session costs £80 but if there are more than one of you a lesson for a group of up to six costs £40 each. All the equipment from wetsuits to surf boards are included in the price. After you have braved the waves there the uber-cool Surf Den beckons serving pizzas, nachos and ice-cold beer, wine, cocktails and soft drinks. From the end of July to the end of August there is a DJ in the house from 4pm until close.

The village of Sennen Cove is steeped in smuggler history. The cove still retains secret passage, once of which is said to lead to the covered well in the Old Success Inn. The inn has a delightful pub and restaurant with enviable sea views and when the west wind blows, and the rain sets in its open fires are there to keep you toasty. The seafood platter that includes locally sourced mussels and a bottle of crisp white wine is a firm favourite, as well as it’s picnic platter with lager, pork pie, cheeses and scones and clotted cream.

When you are not at the beach then a walk along the rugged cliff tops that form part of the South West Coast Path comes highly recommended. The walk to Land’s End and the First and Last House is 1.3 miles, passing historical landmarks such as the ruins of Maen Castle and has far-reaching views across the English Channel and Celtic Sea.
