Things To Do in Lawrenny, South Wales

This rural retreat is less than a mile from the riverside village of Lawrenny, so a walk there will be rewarded with a pint and a meal at one of the many local pubs. The Quayside Tearooms next to the yachting station is a great place to watch the comings and goings on the river. This award-winning alfresco eatery will even go as far as packing up a ploughman’s picnic for you if you are planning on heading out further afield.

Lawrenny Quay is often referred to as the “Secret Waterway” due to its secluded location eight miles upstream from Milford Haven with ancient woodland on its banks. In keeping with the nautical theme, a trip to the coast is going to be irresistible. Less than 10 miles from Lawrenny is the small port of Saundersfoot, where you can enjoy a pint of local ale harbourside after a long walk on the pristine beach. You’ll understand why Saundersfoot made the prestigious Sunday Times ‘Best Places to Live’ in the UK list in 2018.

The jewel in Pembrokeshire Coast’s crown has to be Tenby and you can do the three-hour walk from Saundersfoot, ambling through Rhode Wood, taking in the beaches of Paragon and Castle, and St Catherine’s Island with its 19th-century fort. You will also pass the imposing Tenby Castle built in the 1200s.

A little closer to home is the Folly Farm Adventure Park, where you can get up close and personal with giraffe, penguins, rhinos and lions. The farm has packages that allow you to go behind the scenes with a zookeeper, a great family fun experience.

Last Word

This well-presented holiday retreat has everything you need and more for a perfect time away from home, be it an extended family get-together or a break for a group of friends. It has been renovated to a high standard and designed so that there is little risk of getting under each other’s feet.

There are two bathrooms on each level up the stairs, one with a spacious shower and the other with a free-standing roll-top bath. Attention to detail is evident from heated towel rails to the storage space in all four bedrooms, a king bedroom and a twin bedroom on each level.

When you want to savour a glass of bubbly in the warm bubbles of the hot tub, don’t feel guilty because there is plenty for the rest of you to do. There is a built-in undercover BBQ for the designated cook-out chef and a games room where the more energetic members of the bunch can enjoy a game of table tennis.

Copybush Cottage is in a prime position, right on the river with ancient woodland nearby, and just a short drive away is the awe-inspiring Pembrokeshire Coast, so spectacular it has been awarded National Park status.
