Fen cottage is uniquely situated to give easy access to the New Bedford River, Oxlode Lakes fishing ponds and the RSPB Site of Special Scientific Interest, Ouse Washes.
The Ouse Washes see some stunning bird migrations, drawing nearly 100,000 birds to the area between November and February, perfect for the keen birdwatcher. If tiwiching isn’t your thing, why not take your dog on a long and serene walk down the bridleway that intersects Fen Cottage’s property.
You will also be treated to a diverse selection of wildlife such as muntjac deer, badgers, green parrots and marsh harriers from the comfort of the back garden.
If you are in search of some culture and history, the city of Ely is around five miles away and is home to a famous cathedral that can be seen from Fen Cottage on a clear day. The historic city of Cambridge is within reach too where you can punt down the river or explore the town’s unique architecture and view the colleges that make up the world famous university.
The horseracing town of Newmarket is a short drive from the cottage where the famed racecourse resides as well as all things equestrian. The Norfolk coast lies an hour’s drive away and is wonderful in the summer.
