The countryside surrounding Hill Farm Cottage is perfect for taking long walks with your pooch, exploring the farmlands and little villages dotted around the area. After a long day rambling you can drop by the local pub, under a maile from the cottage, for some food and refreshments.
Hill Farm Cottage makes for the perfect jumping off point to explore the Fens. Great hiking, biking and rambling can be had around the Fens as well opportunities for water sports, golfing and horse riding. The Cambridgeshire countryside is a true adventurer’s playground. If you are more into culture and history there are some historic towns and cities in the area ripe for investigation.
Newmarket is a short drive away and boasts some of the world’s finest horse breeders and stables. The iconic racecourse won’t disappoint and the town is bustling with the equestrian lifestyle. The cathedral city of Ely is close to Hill Farm Cottage and is well worth a visit, if not for its stunning historic cathedral built in 1083, then for its eclectic mix of stalls at the Ely Market.
The city has a great selection of restaurants, cafes and pubs as well as great shopping for some retail therapy. The university city of Cambridge, famed the world over, is within easy reach of the cottage. Whole days can be spent exploring the unique architecture, college buildings and riverside walks.
There is also the iconic activity of punting down the river that is a major draw to Cambridge. Some truly fine dining can be had in Cambridge but if you are more inclined to rustle up a meal at the cottage, you can stock up on groceries in Ely or pick up the essentials in the local village shop which is under three miles away.
