The long promenade has a skate park, model yacht pond and boating lake and visitors can see the two now fully restored 19th century lighthouses, the Dovercourt Range Lights, from here.
Just a stone’s throw from Dovercourt is the port of Harwich. Harwich has an attractive old town and is where the Mayflower, the ship that took the first pilgrims to America, is believed to have been built.

Discover the Treadwheel Crane, built in 1667 to raise and lower goods in the Naval Yard or take in a film at the Electric Palace Cinema, the oldest unaltered purpose-built cinema in Britain. Don’t forget to take a stroll down Ha’Penny Pier, one of the few surviving working wooden piers.
Dating back to 1853, the pier is now a popular choice for tourists and fishermen alike and the Harwich Visitor’s Centre is located here.
