Cromer boasts a pier and a carnival week in August. The North Norfolk Steam Railway, Splash Leisure and Fitness Centre and Sheringham Gardens are located in Sheringham.
There are a number of bird sanctuaries, salt marshes and wildlife centres dotted around the region. Popular RSPB nature and bird reserves can be found around Cley-next-the-Sea. Cley next the Sea was an important trading port in the middle ages and is now best known for its renowned nature reserve. The grazing marsh and reedbeds here are a haven for birdwatchers attracting wintering and migrating wildfowl and waders.
Head to the seaside village of Mundesley for its superb sandy beach and charming village centre. Dubbed ‘capital of the Norfolk Broads’, Wroxham provides daily boat hire, river trips, shops, waterside cafés and restaurants, making it an ideal starting point to explore the Broads. A short drive from the cottage lies the market town of North Walsham. Famous for its farmers’ market, shops, cafés, restaurants and supermarket.
Norwich is only 13 miles away, the city and county town boasts a fantastic castle ’turned’ museum, cathedral, excellent shopping, a theatre, numerous art galleries, cafés, pubs and restaurants.
The Banham Zoo, Wroxham Barns. Craft Centre, Lenwade Dinosaur Adventure Park and the West Runton Shire Horse Centre are perfect attractions to occupy the kids.
