Things To Do in South Creake
Wells-next-the-Sea is the closest beach to the cottage. This pretty fishing village has a picturesque harbour and quayside where fish is still sold and the local shellfish is particularly good.
There are plenty of places to eat and enjoy a drink in Wells-next-the-Sea and the town’s leafy Georgian Square and Staithe Street are perfect for a spot of retail therapy, offering a mix of traditional and contemporary shops.
The beach is within walking distance of the town centre and here you will find expansive white sands with a backdrop of pretty wooden beach huts, a pine forest and sand dunes. The set for several films, if you visit here for a walk with your pooch, you’ll soon realise why it was chosen.
Just four miles from the cottage, the market town of Fakenham is the largest town in Norfolk and is surrounded by beautiful countryside.
Sitting on the banks of the River Wensum, the town’s market which dates back to 1250, is still held on Thursdays. From household items to fresh, local food, you’re bound to find just what you need here to prepare a feast back at the cottage. The countryside around Fakenham is a popular choice for walks in the fresh country air, or hop on your bike and take to the cycle routes along the National Cycle Network which has routes in the area.
The unique backdrop of the striped cliffs at Hunstanton are just one reason to head to its idyllic beach where the kids will love spending time in the rock pools or you and your canine friend can take a walk and a splash in the sea.
Hunstanton began as a Victorian seaside town in 1846 and maintains many of the charms of that era. There is a crazy golf, gardens and the town’s esplanade for walks in the seaside air.
Hunstanton is the only west-facing resort on the East coast and as a result has some magnificent sunsets to enjoy.
