Things To Do in Pakefield
Albion Cottage is in the small seaside village of Pakefied. There’s a quiet stretch of sand here, plus a few shops and a handful of places to eat. There’s a choice of pubs too, and the Trowel and Hammer welcomes dogs with open arms.
The holiday town of Lowestoft has lots going on just a few miles up the coast. There’s a short pier here and a wide sandy beach, plus a harbour area and a bustling town centre.
The East Anglia Transport Museum is a dog-friendly place. Here you can see the history of street transportation, and look around old buses and even have a short ride on an antique tram. Pleasurewood Hills is a nearby theme park with rides for every age, including a roller coaster, dodgems and splash slide.
Travel south, and there is the traditional town of Southwold, it’s been popular with visitors for decades. Colourful beach huts line the back of the beach, and there are gift shops, chippies and tea rooms along the quaint high street.
If you’re looking for an unspoilt beach where you can run with your doggie on the sands, then head to Kessingland – it fits the bill perfectly. And then there is Benacre Nature Reserve for long walks in the countryside. All kinds of wildlife can be spotted here so take your binoculars and camera with you when you visit.
Venture over the county border to Norfolk, the Broads are within easy reach. You can hire a boat, or book a river trip at the Waveney River Centre, and you can take the pooch along with you. As long as you get a licence, there are lots of opportunities to fish in the area, and golfers can book a round or two at the Rookery Park Golf Club nearby.
Pakefield is a lovely place for a holiday. The beach here is a little quieter, and the town has a choice f places to eat and drink at the end of the day.
Lowestoft can be reached in minutes for a buzzing atmosphere, harbour and Pleasurewood Hills theme park. Or head to Benacre nature reserve and spend a few hours in the countryside with the family and your dog.
