Falkenham is a small village between the River Debden and the River Orwell. With the sea just a few miles away as well, you can be beside a stretch of water no matter which way you head.
The seaside town and port of Felixstowe is just 5 miles from Falkenham. This Suffolk favourite is visited by families all year around. With 4 miles of sandy beaches to play on, and a promenade backed by colourful beach huts, it’s the ideal place to spend the day.
To visit the beach with your four-legged friend in summer, you will need to head for the southern end, away from the busiest section. Amusement arcades and mini golf can be found along the seafront, and the pretty gardens have been recently restored.
The busy town centre has a vast range of shops and a choice of places to eat. Landguard Nature Reserve is on a shingle spit on the edge of Felixstowe, and it offers space for long walks with incredible views. Languard Fort is an historic defence that has been preserved and is open to visitors. Its fascinating past comes to life with an audio guide. Events are often held here too so keep an eye on the ‘What’s On’ guide.
Ipswich is the cultural capital of Suffolk, and it’s the oldest Anglo Saxon town in England. Old buildings line the streets and there’s a fascinating museum here that boasts a woolly mammoth and Roman treasures. The waterfront area of Ipswich has been redeveloped into an area of bars, restaurants and coffee shops.
It’s a lovely area to wander and look at the boats in the dock. In the town centre there are 2 large theatres, an art gallery, glorious leafy park and so many shops and eateries there is almost a limitless choice.
With the lively resort of Felixstowe just minutes away from The Coach House, this is a great place to take the family on holiday. There is so much going on nearby, there is something for everyone to enjoy. If you prefer to get back to nature, Levington Lagoon is nearby.
At this quiet nature reserve there are walkways you can wander with your pooch that go along the back of the River Orwell. Take your binoculars as there are plenty of migrating birds to spot here.
The holiday home is perfect for a family of 4. The enclosed garden gives you an area to sit or eat outside. But with 4 acres of shared grounds to explore, there is plenty of space for children to run and doggies to play.
