Things To Do in Monyash, Bakewell
Sitting by a country lane in the heart of the Peak District National Park, near the village of Monyash, with Bakewell a short drive or horse ride away. The cottage is a converted farm building in a private estate, with the grounds housing a mature garden.
The owner provides stabling if you want to take your own horse, and the lane leads off into some excellent riding country. For walkers, possibly with a pooch, Monyash is a short walk away, and has a country pub for refreshments on the way.
Follow the path to the south east and discover the wooded banks of the River Lathkill, perfect for a quiet walk, with lots for a curious canine to sniff out along the way.
Bakewell is 4 miles away to the east along the B5055, and a lovely place to spend a morning or afternoon. This is a typical Peak District market town, busy all year round and with pubs, restaurants and independent shops for provisions and special gifts.
The town is also famous for the Bakewell tart, and there are a few pudding shops for humans and canines to enjoy something sweet. Head east out of Bakewell and discover the delights of Chatsworth House, home of the Duke of Devonshire. The stately home has a world famous art collection, and stunning grounds.
Further afield, the Peak District also has many world famous attractions, from caves to waterfalls and fossil collections. There are lots of lovely towns and villages throughout the park, and for a city experience, Sheffield is a half hour drive to the north east from Bakewell.

The barn conversion has its original beams and stone walls, giving it a real country feel, and its location next to a rutted country lane couldn’t be quieter or more romantic.
