Things To Do in Cutthorpe, Nr Chesterfield
Nestling next to the small village of Cutthorpe, in the open countryside between the Peak District National Park and the Derbyshire landmark town of Chesterfield.
For a couple on a romantic break, or just wanting some quiet time together, perhaps with a furry friend, The Old Cow Shed is ideal. Converted from the aforesaid shed, this is one of three buildings which preserve their solid charm, in the setting of a non-working farm.
This means you have the best of all worlds; peace and quiet, in some of the most unspoiled countryside in England. A short walk away is the village of Cutthorpe, which has a couple of dog friendly inns, and a pet care establishment should you need it.
For people and pup friendly walks, the three Linacre Reservoirs are just to the south east, with nearby car parks for visitors. The lakes are surrounded by wooded lanes, which are blessed by bluebells in the spring. The local walks are signposted, and there are also bike trails to follow if that’s your thing.
A short drive to the west along the B6050 is the Peak District National Park, with all its world famous attractions, including caves and limestone mountains, plus the delightful spa town of Buxton. Chatsworth House is in the eastern park of the Peaks, with its 17th Century manor house overlooking the River Derwent.
The Derbyshire gem of Matlock is also nearby, complete with cable car ride, and longer days, evenings or nights out can be spent in nearby Sheffield, just to the north east by train or road.
The Old Cow Shed at Green Farm Cottages is a unique spot to spend some quality time together, as a couple and / or with a canine companion for company. The non working farm has a relaxed atmosphere, and the buildings are perfectly preserved to retain their original rural feel.
Inside, the fixtures and fittings make for a relaxing break in plenty of space, with the open plan layout perfect for humans and pooches alike. Cutthorpe is a hidden gem of a village in the eastern Peaks, with lovely pubs for refreshments on the way out or back from a day out exploring.
There are countless local wooded lanes and signposted trails to follow, so you can have peace and quiet when you want it. Try the lovely local towns, like Bakewell or Matlock, for a real Derbyshire experience. The delights of Green Farm await at night.
