Things To Do in Bishopton, Nr Stratford-Upon-Avon
Sitting above a big archway overlooking the street, a mile and a half away from the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon in the very heart of England.
There is no better place to experience the culture and history of this part of the world, which also has everything the modern visitor could need, including dog-friendly attractions, walks and places to eat and drink. A brisk stroll along the River Avon takes you right into Stratford, or you can take the roads if you’re feeling lazy.
The river connects with the end of the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal, which stretches 25 miles to the north-east. This has some great towpath walks which your pooch will love, and is dotted with canal side inns. The river itself passes some beautiful Warwickshire villages and towns, including Hampton Lucy on the edge of Charlecote Park.
Stratford-on-Avon is home to a host of attractions, and is worth a number of days out on its own. Romantics will love Shakespeare’s birthplace, and his lifelong sweetheart Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, just to the west of the town.
Stratford also has plenty of contemporary attractions, including the MAD Museum, home of mechanical art and design works, and the arts centre at The Old Slaughterhouse. There are a number of shopping centres, for retail therapy and stocking up on necessities, plus independent shops for special gifts.
The Cotswolds AONB lies just to the south of Stratford, and is home to hundreds of miles of walks and trails to keep your canine companion happy. Head west into historic Worcester, and nearby Malvern Hills AONB, for other great days out.
