About The Cart Hovel

The Cart Hovel is anything but a hovel. The name refers to the Tudor period, of which this fabulous cottage still retains some elements. The open plan living and dining area has beams above and all around, with an open fire in its hearth and chimney breast.

The double bedroom comes with a z-bed for a child to stay, and outside is a private paved area and access to a garden with play slide.

The Cart Hovel is also doggie friendly. You can bring up to two well behaved family pets with you, and there’s no extra charge.

Things To Do in Exhall, Nr Alcester

Hidden off a country lane in the small hamlet of Exhall, but within easy reach of Stratford-upon-Avon and Worcester. This converted cart house is a completely unique country cottage, with open countryside and many historic and cultural attractions nearby. Pub half a mile away, shop and restaurant 2 miles.

Take your pooches to visit St Milburga’s, a tiny Anglo Saxon church with an ancient graveyard. Head off down the lane and pick up the Hay Brook, heading west into the lovely village of Wixford and the bigger River Arrow. Stop at either of the two family and dog friendly riverside pubs on the way.

West of Wixford is Ragley Hall, Park and Gardens, and let your furry friends enjoy the grounds while you take in the Hall’s Palladian splendour.

Head off by foot, bike or car along the many winging lanes, and pass through Warwickshire villages in unspoilt countryside and woodland. The A46 passes close to Wixford, and joins with other main roads at Arrow. Head east to Stratford-upon-Avon, home of William Shakespeare, and spend a day out roaming the old town with its narrow streets and half timbered buildings. Stop off at some of the lovely pubs, cafes and restaurants across the town, or spend some time having some serious retail therapy in the town’s major shopping centres.

Head west along the A422 to the cathedral city of Worcester on the River Severn, and take in the Commandery or the Tudor House Museum. A short drive southwest takes you to the Malvern Hills AONB, perfect for pup friendly country walks and quiet picnics.

Our Thoughts

The Cart Hovel at Glebe Farm Barns has an amazing charm and character all its own. The amazing beamwork is present throughout the entire one-storey cottage, and the open fireplace will make you want to spend a lot of quality time staying in.

Or you could sit out on the private patio, or in the big grass garden with the kids slide while your canine companions run down to the fenced pond. Stroll out into the country lanes from Exhall, and enjoy the riverside views and walks, punctuated by great local food and drink at the pubs nearby.

Enjoy a day out in Stratford-upon-Avon, buy something special at one of the independent shops and stay for a meal. Visit historic Worcester and walk the beautiful Malvern Hills. After a hard day, relax in front of the fire in this unique holiday cottage.
