Things To Do in Castlemorton, Malvern
Hidden in a private lane near the small village of Castlemorton, which is within easy reach of Cheltenham, Gloucester and Worcester. This is a delightful old coach house, and a perfect place to relax in peace and quiet. The owner lives nearby, and don’t be surprised to see the odd chicken strutting about. Nearest pub and restaurant half a mile away, and another 2 pubs within 2 miles.
The country walks start on your front doorstep, and there are hundreds of miles of them in area. Castlemorton Common lies just to the west, up Church Road and over the B4208. At the junction you’ll find the Morton Majestic Cinema, located in the village hall. Daily screenings start at 7.30pm.
The Common itself is accessed via a maze of country lanes, and has many streams with wooded banks to explore. This lies within the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which stretches out north, south and west to the beautiful Malvern Hills.
This is well serviced by roads, including the A449, and also has a train line to take you to Worcester. Not too steep to walk up, this range of hills has some superb picnic spots with unspoilt views in every direction, and the AONB management produces excellent maps and literature. Head north and you’ll find Malvern Wells, which overlooks the Three Counties Showground, home of the Malvern Autumn Show and many other events throughout the year.
The historic cathedral city of Worcester lies to the north east, and has everything you’ll need for a great day out. Independent shops, retail outlets, pubs and restaurants are all here, so you and your canine companion will have plenty to keep you busy.
The Coach House is a uniquely charming cottage which you’ll love staying in. The beams and sunlit lounge make for a relaxing country experience which will tempt you to stay at home.
However, there’s a lot of lovely countryside to explore right on the doorstep, starting with the delightful Malvern village of Castlemorton, with its one storey pub and restaurant. Take pooch for longer walks along the lanes nearby, onto the Common and into the AONB.
The National Park has superb paths to follow and views to take in, as well as well placed watering holes, especially to the north east around the Malverns themselves. Take in Worcester, perfect for a day out, then come home and relax.
