Things To Do in Worksop
Nestling in a field near the National Trust’s Clumber Park site, in Sherwood Forest in the heart of England. Tailor made, state of the art timber lodge perfect for two doggies to help you enjoy your holiday.
The Park itself only charges entrance fees for drivers, and as you’re right next door, you get in for free. Take pooch and explore the Park’s 3,800 acres, which includes a wide variety of natural habitats and wildlife.
Explore the woodland walks with your canine companions, follow the paths round the huge lake, and keep an eye out for the Gothic Chapel in the Park’s grounds. You can also stop off at the velo cafe with its outdoor seating, or try the Clumber Park Restaurant.
Head off into Sherwood Forest, home of the legendary Robin Hood. The Forest is a patchwork of managed and ancient trees, which your curious canine will love finding a way through. Just to the north is the Nottinghamshire town of Worksop, which is well worth a morning or afternoon’s visit.
Sitting on the River Ryton and the Chesterfield Canal, there are some lovely walks and parks to the south of Worksop, including the Canch country park. Take the path around Sandhill Lake, then pop into one of the dog friendly pubs, cafes and restaurants.
The Peak District National park is a 20 minute drive to the west. Spend a day exploring the Peaks, some of the most popular landscapes in England.
There are hundreds of miles of walking trails, plus the chance to go horse riding, canoeing, abseiling, cave diving and other energetic activities if that’s your thing. The National Park is also home to some charming country towns and villages, with independent cafes, pubs and eateries to keep everyone happy.
