Things To Do in Hopton Heath, Craven Arms
Hopton Heath is in south Shropshire on the edge of the Shropshire Hills. There are lots of places to hike in glorious countryside here with quaint villages, valleys, hills and pretty waterways to explore.
Hopton Woods is a forest with a cycle track. With climbs and downhill trails, mountain bike riders have everything they need. Walkers are also welcome to hike the area, and it’s also a popular place to have a picnic.
Clun Castle is a dramatic ruin built on a high hill on the Welsh border. The fortification hosts 2 festivals a year. It’s a steep climb to the top but well worth the effort, and the small village at the bottom is nice to wander around.
Ludlow is a few miles east. This historical town has distinctive half-timbered buildings and the museum in the centre has an interactive display. Ludlow Castle is in the old part of town and it’s an impressive Medieval ruin. Walls, towers and turrets still stand tall – it’s well worth a visit and is doggy friendly too.
Immerse yourself in natural surroundings and relax at Ashlea Pools Lodges. It’s peaceful at this park and there is a choice of places to hike with your pooch nearby.
The Medieval town of Ludlow is a short drive away, and Shrewsbury is only a little farther so you have a selection of places to visit if you want to explore.
But you could stay at the park and simply spend time fishing in the lake, reading on the deck and relaxing in a hot tub.
