Things To Do in Waterhouses, Leek

Lee House Farm Cottage is in the ideal setting on the southern edge of the Peak District. Surrounded by rolling hills and green farmland, there are many trails and hiking paths to explore, each leading from one picturesque village to another.

If you are in the mood for a trundle around on a mountain bike, the near-flat Manifold Cycle Track takes you along a now defunct railway that is about nine miles from end to end. You don’t even need to bring your own bikes as cycle hire is available on the track.

After a long day on foot or by bike, why not settle into the lovely cedar, wood fired hot tub to relax those muscles and watch the sunset over the hills. If you intend to indulge in the hot tub, let the owner know in advance as it does take a few hours to prepare and does come at an extra cost per session.

You also have many cultural and historical places to visit in the area such as the town of Leek which hosts a lively market and plenty of amenities including supermarkets where you can stock up on groceries. The historic town of Ashbourne is also well worth a visit with its cobbled streets and unique architecture.

Both towns play host to a variety of eclectic pubs, cafes, shops and restaurants. If you want something closer to the cottage, the village of Waterhouses is only one and a half miles away where you can do some light shopping, enjoy food and refreshments at one of the pubs or dine out at one of the restaurants in the area.

Our Thoughts

This hidden gem, nestled on the southern fringe of the Peak District is a perfect jumping off point for some truly spectacular walks and hikes that your puppies are sure to enjoy as much as you do.

Not only are the surrounding areas gorgeous, the cottage itself is like something out of a fairytale. Beautiful stone built exterior, modern yet rural interiors with no expense spared on luxurious touches.

The massive garden, patio and barbeque area are all you could wish for, and the cherry on top is a private wood fired hot tub that is ideal for relaxing and gazing up at the stars on a chilly evening. Lee House Farm Cottage is a treat both you and your dogs deserve
