Things To Do in Nr Leek , Staffordshire

Nestling high on the banks of the shore of Rudyard Lake, hidden from view by trees and with some truly breathtaking views.

Escape the stress and strain of the big city with a break in the Staffordshire moors, on the doorstep of the Peak District National Park.

Walk your furry friends to the waters edge and look out for the wildlife which lives here all year round, on this reservoir two and a half miles long and 168 acres in area. Take a walk to the southern end of the water, to the Activity Centre, and find out about its history while planning your day ahead over a cup of coffee with your canine companions.

Just beyond the the south end, Rudyard itself is a great place to start a country walk, with a choice of dog friendly paths which follow the track bed of an old railway line.

There are excellent paths by the sides of the canal which the lake feeds, and these go either south to the village of Ladderedge, or south east towards the lovely Staffordshire Moorland town of Leek.

Spend the morning or afternoon in this thriving market town, with its dog friendly pubs and cafes, in a genteel town centre which dates back many hundreds of years. Leek is also famous for its independent shops, which sell local produce wherever possible.

A short drive to the east of Rudyard Lake lies Tittesworth Water, another feeder reservoir in this high country, this one of which is right on the western edge of the Peak District National Park.

Stop by the casual pub at the north end of the lake with its outdoor seating, then find the country road at Meerbrook which leads into the National Park itself.

Our Thoughts

Rudyard Lake Lodges are the perfect placed to enjoy the tranquil setting of this superb upland stretch of water, taking in the sights and sounds of nature all around in your own secluded hideaway.

With plenty of room for a family or group of friends, plus one or two of the four legged variety, you’ll want to spend quality time together in the site itself.

Just down the bank, however, the lake is begging to be explored, so let your furry friends take you there. Explore the wooded banks and footpaths, then plan your day in Rudyard.

Enjoy the lovely town of Leek, which is a great place for dog owners, and head off into the nearby Peak District. After a day out in the hills, stopping off in the pretty towns and villages of the area, head back to your secret lakeside log cabin.
