1. 2 Ashby Place in Chester

Ashby Place in Chester sleeps 4 people across 2 bedrooms, and offers space for 2 well behaved dogs. You’ll also find Wi-Fi, power and smart TV services provided, along with a fantastic woodburning stove to help provide that authentic cottage breakaway feel. There’s a dining room here as well as a kitchen with its own dining table.

This location is not only well positioned for trips to the centre of Chester, but is also in a prime location should you wish to explore the local Roman walls or the River Dee. There are plenty of dog walks close to the nearby village scenery!

2. The Old King Arms in Handbridge

he Old Kings Arms is a terraced cottage that sleeps 5 guests across 3 bedrooms, with two separate bathroom facilities. You can bring one well behaved dog with you to enjoy the cosiness and local surroundings. There is also an enclosed outdoor space, as well as a living room area that benefits from its own open fire. You’ll also benefit from a shower room on the ground floor of the cottage.

This is one of our favourites for a few reasons. For one, it’s in a great central location for guests to explore Chester city. Beyond Chester, however, you’re not far from scores of great walks!

3. The Brambles in Bangor-on-Dee

The Brambles is a lovely detached cottage / bungalow that sleeps 2 guests, making it a wonderful ground floor escape with romantic potential. As a dog friendly cottage, you will also find there’s space here for two pets. There is a roomy open plan living area, as well as an attached kitchen, dining space as well as your own shower room. The 1 bedroom here is king size, so plenty of space! You also have your own garden to enjoy.

This wonderful detached cottage space places you close to the Dee, with countryside walks and local shops less than 5 miles away.

4. Chapel Cottage in Tarporley

Chapel Cottage is a quaint yet sizeable holiday domicile based in Bunbury. It sleeps 4 guests, has space for 1 dog, and offers 2 bedrooms. This cosy building offers a wood burner stove, a formal dining room, a lawned garden and a fully built kitchen. There is also a patio to the rear of the cottage for you to enjoy, too.

Chapel Cottage is within walking distance of wonderful village fare in Bunbury, but you will also find that it’s close to fantastic woodland walks out towards the local Beeston Castle. Take the time to look at the Shropshire Union Canal walks, too!

5. Sandmartins in Penyfford

Sandmartins is a modern cottage breakaway that offers 3 bedrooms and sleeps 6. There is space for 2 pets here, with access to Wi-Fi and a full bathroom suite. This ground floor apartment provides a kitchen and dining room, along with an open fire in the sitting room, as well as all the home entertainment standards you could ever need. There’s even a garden with a pond!

This fantastic cottage welcomes pets and is perfect for a last minute break close to Chester and other village sights. It is ideal for larger groups and is also within a short drive of Offa’s Dyke and all the wonderful walking opportunities close by.

6. Manor Wood in Farndon

The spectacular Manor Wood sleeps 10 guests! It has 5 bedrooms and welcomes one dog, and has its own lawn garden as well as a fishing lake. There’s also a games room as well as access to a swimming pool on site. There is a full shower room on the ground floor as well as a woodburning stove and a kitchen diner.

This cottage is one of our favourites as it sits neatly between Wrexham and Chester. When not exploring Chester or the local walks, make a point of looking at the local village scene or checking out the park facilities.

7. Meadow View Barn in Nantwich

Meadow View Barn is a ground floor holiday nook that sleeps 2 people and which has room for 2 pets. One of the best romantic properties close to Chester and the Cheshire countryside, this location provides a king size bedroom, access to an on-site gym, and all the village pub and shop amenities you’ll need within a short walk.

This holiday nook is well positioned if you’d like to explore the best cycling or walking trails in the local region and village. Market towns are not too far away, and with off road parking available, it’s really easy to head on out whenever you wish.

8. Axe Edge Cottage in Flash

Axe Edge Cottage offers space for 2 guests and 3 pets! Offering a double room, a shower room and a kitchen with cooking and storage facilities, this holiday bolthole has internet access throughout. This popular holiday spot also offers a shared utility space where you will find a washing machine for all your daily laundry.

Great for cyclists and dog walkers alike, this is one of several of our favourites – one of some great properties based high up in the heavens, close to the Peak District as well as the city of Chester. Beyond the Chester walls, take a look at local dog walks!

9. Clough Brook Cottage in Wincle

This idyllic cottage and barn conversion location is one of the best looking properties on our list. It sleeps 4 people, has 2 bedrooms and there is space for 2 dogs at your request. There’s a full Sky TV setup as well as 2 bathroom spaces, with some features on the first floor and a kitchen with living space on the ground floor.

This secluded cottage location is close to fishing facilities, and is within its own private grounds. You’re less than 3 miles from some of the best of the Peak District walks, though you can easily escape to Chester – if Chester city centre interests you!

10. Hawthorn Cottage in Cranage

Hawthron Cottage is a beautiful domicile that sleeps 3 guests and is very pet friendly. It’s a great romantic nook, offering your own hot tub as well as a modern kitchen space. There’s also an enclosed garden here, along with an indoor fireplace and all mod cons for when the weather goes a bit chilly.

11. Owls Loft in Biddulph Moor

Owls Loft is a great last minute booking for 4 guests, with 2 bedrooms available and room for a pet. It’s one of our favourites thanks to the amazing moor views. There is a log burner in the living room, a king size bed, and even a private patio zone should you wish to make the most of the great outdoors without leaving the cottage.

Bidulph Moor and the local village are really wonderful to behold, and you will have access to all kinds of National Trust and countryside walks close by. As always, it’s easy to get to Chester city via main roads, with rail links towards Manchester.

Cheshire Cottage is a ground floor domicile that sleeps 4 guests across 2 bedrooms, and of course, it’s very pet friendly. You’ll find that there is a full kitchen suite, a decking zone with a bench outside, a private garden and TV facilities.

This location in Little Leigh is great for anyone looking for a barn conversion or otherwise that sleeps 2 at least. This nook sleeps 2 to 4 people and is right on the doorstep of some of the best countryside vistas and historic walks, and once again, you’re close enough to access the best of Chester.
