Weymouth has a fantastic location. Sitting on the Dorset coast you have some of the UK’s most spectacular sites within a few minutes’ drive. Lulworth Castle and Durdle Door are just a few miles east, both are dog friendly and great fun to explore.
The Isle of Portland juts out to the south and offers an ancient castle, long walking paths and an iconic lighthouse on the tip. Then there’s Chesil Beach, a 27 km spit of pebbles where you can walk with your pooch for hours. Weymouth itself has plenty of things for a family to enjoy such as a Sea Life aquarium, Punch and Judy shows, a merry-go-round and donkey rides.
For couples and groups of friends visiting Weymouth, a choice of fine dining restaurants, quaint independent shops and antiques galore can be found. Everyone is catered for here.
Weymouth is, of course, just one section of the brilliant county and region of Dorset. This is one of our favourites when it comes to holidaying with pets, and that’s largely thanks to the fact that the tourist board really is opening things up more and more to pets and their owners. You’ll need to double check that Weymouth beaches are dog friendly
(see here)before you take your pets, but there shouldn’t be too much hassle or pressure on your plate.
Bring 1 or 2 pets, book 1 or 2 bedrooms – there’s a lot of choice out here in pet friendly Weymouth, and we’re here to help you line up some fantastic cottage favourites.
Are you looking for an enclosed garden? A countryside retreat that’s semi detached or a terraced cottage that’s close to Weymouth town centre? Maybe you’re looking to go fully rustic and enjoy a barn conversion with 3 bedrooms or more. 2 bedrooms, 3 bedrooms, en suite and more – we undertook a big task to hunt down cottages that we think pets and their owners will love from countryside over to the beach area of Weymouth. Just make sure your pets are well behaved!
