Things To Do in Rowsley

The lodge is part of a working smallholding in the Derbyshire hills, near the village of Rowsley, so there is plenty of room and lots of sights and smells for the dog to get excited about, and some real country air for walks in any direction.
Head to Rowsley, about five miles away, and has some excellent shops for essentials and a restaurant and pub to relax or up your energy levels for a visit to the Peak District National Park. Try the Rowsley Bar Hill Climb if you’re fit enough, or pick up the Monsal Trail or Derwent Valley cycleway, just a couple of the many paths and trails which criss-cross the length and breadth of the Peaks.

Head north of Rowsley to Chatsworth House, home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, which sits in 1,000 acres of parkland, is home to a priceless art collection and has dog-friendly attractions like the working farmyard and an adventure playground for the kids.
Drive to Bakewell, known as the capital of the Peaks, and enjoy some of its famous pudding, as well as indulging in some shopping for local delicacies and fine homemade foods.

Spend a day in Matlock Bath, a spa town on the Derwent with elegant riverside walks, and don’t miss the Heights of Abraham, a limestone gorge and country park which is best enjoyed from its cable car ride. Kids will love the rides at Gulliver’s Kingdom, while world-famous Alton Towers is only a half-hour drive to the west.
