Things To Do in Allithwaite

For a family holiday that includes your canine companion you can’t ask for more than this. In the lush village of Allithwaite the cabin is located on the Cartmel Peninsula where the southern tip of Lake Windermere and Morecambe Bay meet.

Less than a mile down the road is Cartmel, supposedly the prettiest village in the Lake District. It is here you can walk on the banks of the river that runs through the village and wind your way along the cobbled streets that are jam-packed with antique shops. For the foodies there is Simon Rogan’s Michelin Star L’Enclume riverside restaurant and there are dog-friendly pubs with beer gardens for the whole family to enjoy.

For pooches who are partial to all things past then a stroll around 800-year-old Cartmel Priory is recommended. Here you can appreciate its unusual architecture and awe-inspiring stained-glass windows.

Just two miles from Allithwaite is the Victorian seaside town of Grange-over-Sands. For energetic family members, the walk is worth it for a stint on the shoreline for a bit of Frisbee throwing.

Jump in the car and travel 30 minutes to Lake Windermere where you can take a cruise that allows Fidos onboard free of charge.
