This beautiful wooden lodge is part of a wider set of lodges in a rural holiday park located in Barend, on Scotland’s breathtaking Solway coast. It comfortably and spaciously sleeps up to five guests across three bedrooms, so it’s perfect for a family or a group of friends.
There are a total of three bedrooms, one double complete with a Smart TV and en-suite shower. Another double, also with its smart TV and also a single on the ground floor. There is an additional wet room on the ground floor.
The lodge itself is packed with plenty of creature comforts. If you fancy yourself as a bit of a gamer, there is an Xbox 360 for use by guests, Wi-Fi, Sky Sports and Sky TV. And there is also an electric fire in the sitting room which is where you’ll also find yet another Smart TV.
This beautiful wooden lodge is the perfect home from home and, as we’ve mentioned, is crammed with creature comforts. It’s an idyllic location to stay all year round, both in the summer where you can relax on the balcony and with electric fires to keep you warm in the winter.
There are also plenty of amenities on-site in the holiday park that Thistle Dubh is located in, meaning you don’t have to go anywhere. On-site amenities include a pub and restaurant as well as a fishing loch and a deer park just next door.
The owners of both the holiday park and the lodge also allow guests staying at the lodge to bring up to two well-behaved dogs with you, with the surrounding countryside spoiling you with a choice of different nature trails to explore with them.
Thistle Dubh is located in Barend on the Solway Coast. Despite plenty of amenities on-site, there is also a lot to experience outside of the holiday park. First of all, if you’re a golfer, whether an aspiring professional or a casual golfer, you’re in heaven.
There are a staggering 16 golf courses within 20 miles that you can choose from to play a round of golf at and also take in the views from, each with its unique layout and terrain. If you want to take in some of the most breathtaking views from the coast, why not head down to Rockcliffe beach.
It is just under 3 miles away from the holiday park and can be a tourist hotspot in the warm summer months. There is also Southerness beach just under 5 miles away; if you fancy something a bit different when not try to visit Castle Douglas and experience the Castle Douglas treasure trail.
Also, around 15 miles away in Dumfries, you have the Dumfries Ice Bowl, where you can try your hand at ice skating and roller-skating. Dumfries is also home to an ODEON should you want to catch up on the latest blockbusters in the cinemas at the time of your visit. And so, as you can see, there is plenty to do and experience both on-site itself and further afield.
