Things To Do in Dobwalls

There is a pub and restaurant on this resort’s sister site, about a 15-minute drive away, where you’ll be welcome, including the dogs. However, a much closer watering hole is just a ten-minute walk away in Dobwalls village, where you can plan the day ahead. This hilly part of Cornwall is also crisscrossed with rivers, especially the River Fowey. Take the dogs on a riverside walk to Two Waters Foot, or head east into Liskeard, which has plenty of eateries and watering holes to enjoy.

Take a short drive north to Bodmin Moor, an untouched upland with Jamaica Inn at its heart, to rest after exploring the moorland. Don’t miss The Cheesewring, aka Stowe’s Hill, a natural rock formation which looks very man-made. For real stone circles, head west across the moor to Stripple Stones and Trippet Stone Circle. Drive west from the Moor to Padstow, the fishing village made famous by Rick Stein, while surfers can get their fill of the beaches springing up around Newquay.

Visit the Eden Project, the groundbreaking ecological centre with a rainforest biodome, visitor centre and even an ice rink. The South West Coast Path takes you to Polruan and Polperro for a peaceful walk along the coast, where you and the dogs can just enjoy the sea air and magnificent views. For a city experience, Plymouth is a short train journey or drive from Liskeard and has superb attractions around the Barbican, including all the culture, food, drink and shopping you could want.

Last Word

For a couple with one or two dogs along to enjoy the experience, this is a holiday lodge like no other. There’s pampering in the hot tub and sauna to your own private cinema. People and dogs will love the country walks all around, starting outside the site, with a ten-minute stroll into Dobwalls, surrounded by the hills of the Fowey Valley. Cornish hospitality begins here, and there’s plenty more of it in the charming town of Liskeard, which also has plenty of shops and a train station to help you explore southern Cornwall.

For a wild getaway, Bodmin Moor is a must. Inspiration for Daphne Du Maurier and Poldark, you’ll soon forget the stresses of modern life. Head west for the world-famous seafood cuisine and atmosphere of Padstow and explore the hidden coves on the Atlantic coast, which surfers love so much. The Eden Project has lots to enjoy for humans for something more thought-provoking, all within a dog-friendly site.

Enjoy more earthly pursuits in thriving Plymouth or some of the quietest and most scenic walks anywhere, visiting the lovely fishing villages on the south Cornwall coast. This lodge lets you mix a rural retreat with whatever takes your fancy for an extraordinary Cornish holiday. isThe indoor
