Wharram Percy, Wharram-le-Street. Here you can explore a deserted medieval village that was once a thriving community up until the 16th century. This enchanting site is in the beautiful Wolds valley and is protected by English Heritage. Explore Wharram Percy with your pooch who must be on a lead.

Brimham Rocks

Brimham Rocks, Summerbridge, near Harrogate. Brimham Rocks feature a collection of bizarre and extraordinary rock formations which includes the Dancing Bear and the Gorilla. Paths weave over heather moorland or through stunning woodland, with panoramic views over Nidderdale. Your canine companion is welcome to join you. They must be kept on a lead between April and June to protect ground-nesting birds. Your four-legged friend is allowed in the shop and exhibition room. Water bowls are provided at the refreshment kiosk and outside the visitor centre.


Worth Valley Railway

Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, Haworth. Why not travel through Brontë country on a steam train with your pooch. Owners must keep their dogs under control and on the floor of the train when travelling. You won’t have to pay for your canine companion to join your trip. You must visit Haworth’s quaint shops and walk across Penistone Hill to the beautiful Brontë waterfall.


The Dales

Yorkshire has splendid national parks: the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the North York Moors National Park which is well known for its dry-stone walls. The Yorkshire Dales is a walker or hikers dream destination. Take a gentle riverside walk, or for a longer hike on wild and empty moorland.
