Things To Do in Greenfield , Lancashire
The nearby Dovestone Reservoir, with its waterside paths and surrounding hills to explore with pooch, are just the start of the great outdoor adventures you and your four legged friends can get up to.
The grounds of the Park itself are next to the Chew Brook, part of the river which serves the reservoir, and still the heart of the Chew Valley, flowing east west through Greenfield and some lovely high moors countryside.
Greenfield is a great place to start or end your day out, with dog friendly pubs and eateries, not to mention all the shops you’ll need for provisions.
Right on the borders of Lancashire and Yorkshire, the A635 stretches between Greenfield and Holmfirth, the Yorkshire setting of Last of the Summer Wine.
There are lots of rivers, streams and brooks in the area, plus canals with great towpaths for doggie walks.
To get to Holmfirth, you cross the top end of the Peak District National Park, which also reaches into Derbyshire and Staffordshire to the south. To the east of Greenfield, meanwhile, is the great northern city of Manchester.
From the joys of glamping to the more luxurious option of a private hot tub, Dovestone Holiday Park has something to offer everyone.
Four legged guests don’t get ignored either, with the grounds sitting in superb moorland countryside next to the huge Dovestone Reservoir.
Country walks, cycle paths and bridleways criss cross the area, and the Pennine Way is only three miles away to the east. The design of both the lodges and pods means you don’t have to worry about pooch getting the place wet and muddy.
Take a trip up the Chew Valley to the east, and follow the brook to where it meets the River Tame and the Huddersfield Narrow Canal.
Enjoy the peace and quiet of river and canalside walks, not forgetting the abundant local wildlife. Explore the Peak District to the east, with loads of activities for a great day out for all the family.
