Things To Do in Old Langho, Ribble Valley
Country walks start at the bottom of the private lane leading up to the lodges, so you can take your four legged friends in any direction and be sure of a refreshing day in natural surroundings.
Pop into the dog friendly pubs at Old Langho or Brockhall Village, and head for the river banks. The Calder joins the Ribble just north of here, so you’re spoilt for choice of woodland walks.
The Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty surrounds the area, with moor land and peat bogs to really get some exercise.
Head up the A59 to Clitheroe, the historic market town famous for its lace making. Visit the Norman Castle keep, dominating the town on the River Ribble, and take pooch around its extensive grounds.
Visit Byrnes Wine Shop, with its world famous cellar which is home to vintages you won’t find anywhere else in England. Take in one of the regular country markets, and treat yourself and your furry friends to sausages from Cowman’s world famous sausage shop on Castle Street.
From doggie walks around the grounds and into the nearby villages, bigger adventures in the Forest of Bowland AONB and mornings or afternoons in the historic local towns, Ribble Valley Views offer the chance to really unwind in a fabulous part of the North Country.
West is Lancashire along the fabulous Ribble Valley, which flows through Preston to the Fylde Coast and the Ribble and Alt Estuaries nature reserve. East is North Yorkshire, towards Skipton and the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Enjoy the unspoilt feel of Old Langho, with its country pub in an idyllic setting, or try Whalley for a choice of independent shops, pubs, cafes and eateries.
Nearby Clitheroe has something for the history buff, with its Norman Castle overlooking this town on a bend in the Ribble. Partake of some of the excellent local produce, and enjoy it while your out with pooch or take it home to try later.
