Things To Do in Wennington
Hidden away in a quiet corner of northern Lancashire, in the village of Wennington. This is the gateway to the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which covers 312 square miles and is home to protected wildlife. There are lots of mapped ans signposted walks, which your canine companion will love. Check out the details with the Bowland Visitor Centre.
Wennington has its own train station, so you can plan day trips across north Lancashire and into Yorkshire. The historic City of Lancaster is on the train line, or just a short drive down the A683. Lancaster has hundreds of independent shops, selling anything from local produce to high end clothes and accessories. It also has some fabulous visitor attractions, such as Lancaster Castle, which make for a memorable day out.
Just to the north of Wennington is Kirkby Lonsdale, which is a delightful little market town. If you book at the right time of the year, you’ll catch the town’s famous Dickensian Christmas Market. Kirkby is on the edge of Lakeland, which spreads out to include the Lake District National Park.
Visit this for some world famous scenery, including Lake Windermere and Scafell Pike, the tallest mountain in England. If you and your partner enjoy a spot of adventure, the Park has many organised activities such as climbing, abseiling and white water kayaking.
