The historic market town of Pocklington is just five miles from the cottage and can be reached by car or local transport in 10 to 20 minutes.
Nestled in the Yorkshire Wolds, Pocklington offers a relaxing day out and some excellent walks, ideal for stretching your legs and those of your canine friend.
Famous local walks include the Wolds Way which takes walkers through chalk landscapes and green valleys all the while taking in the stunning wildlife along the route.
The Minster Way is a route between the medieval Minsters at Beverley and York and the Wilberforce Way, which was devised in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the abolition of slavery.
The city of York is home to a rich history including Romans and Vikings who left their mark on the town. The Jorvik Viking Centre offers the chance to journey back in time to learn about life in York during the Viking era and to see the artefacts found on the many extensive archaeological digs held in the town.
Shopping in York is a wonderful experience with the city’s medieval streets being home to international chain stores and local independent shops for jewellery, books clothing, unique toys and luxury toiletries.
