About The Garden Cottage
The Garden Cottage is set in the grounds of Thorpe Hall in Rudston which was built in the 1790s.
Once used as the apple store for apples from the orchard, the cottage has been restored to a very high standard.
The house has five bedrooms with twin or king size beds and disabled access as well as en-suite bathrooms and kitchen with a Belling range oven. A hot tub is available if booked in advance.

Things To Do in Bridlington
A few minutes from the cottage is Sewerby Hall which has fine gardens and a zoo to visit as well as the opportunity to find out about life at the hall in Edwardian times. There are seasonal and themed events and exhibitions throughout the year.
The traditional seaside town of Bridlington is just four miles from the house. Bridlington’s pre-Roman harbour and old town are top spots for history fans, with a wide choice of places to visit to learn more about the town’s history at the Augustinian Priory, the Harbour Heritage Museum and the Bayle Museum.
All three are free to enter and have a range of displays and exhibitions explaining the town’s role in terms of religion, sailing and legal terms.
The popular seaside town of Whitby is a short drive from the house. Whitby is famous for its Goth Festival which is held twice a year, the town’s boating regatta and Captain James Cook who lived in nearby Staithes for a time as well as its unique fossilised gemstone, Whitby Jet, which can be purchased in the town as a unique piece of handcrafted jewellery.
Buy an antique piece steeped in history or something new with a modern feel. Whitby market is held three days a week and is the perfect place to find baked goods, handmade silver jewellery, hats, clothes, antiques and art to take home as a souvenir or as a gift.
Put on some sturdy shoes to climb the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey, an impressive gothic abbey which looks out over the town, its harbour and the Yorkshire coastline.
Filey is another seaside town with a traditional feel to it and beaches that welcome dogs. The main beach has restrictions in summer but there are alternative beaches in Filey which welcome dogs all year round.
Filey Brigg, a peninsula at the north end of the town is the perfect spot for those who love birdwatching and you can also see bottlenose dolphins swimming in the sea, as well as seals and porpoises on the beach at certain times of the year.
The Garden Cottage offers incredibly spacious accommodation over two floors, welcoming both canine friends and horses to the estate.
Just four miles from the beach at Bridlington and within easy driving distance of other seaside towns on the Yorkshire coast such as Scarborough, Whitby and Filey, it is the perfect place to relax in its choice of living rooms and comfortable bedrooms after a day building sandcastles on the beach.
A welcome pack is available on arrival and for those who are travelling with an equine friend, the cottage offers free livery and grazing for horses, just remember to bring bedding and food for your horse with you.
