Things To Do in Chester
Quietly located next to a paddock in the owner’s grounds, near the Cheshire hamlet of Oscroft, with historic Chester ten minutes away and the Peak District National Park on your doorstep.
Escape the noise and stress of the big city, and enjoy a country holiday in peace with your four legged friend by your side. Enjoy the patio with its superb views, while your canine companion explores the paddock. Take a stroll into Oscroft, or pick up one of the Tarvin Footpaths which criss cross this part of west Cheshire.
Tarvin itself is a village on a rocky outcrop, with a dog friendly pub to stop off in for a rest. There are marked Tarvin paths follow the flat Cheshire Plain, alongside farmers fields into the heart of the countryside.
A short drive west down the A51 Tarvin Road takes you to Chester, which is a great place for a day out for both people and pooches. Enjoy Chester Meadows, a beautiful wetland on a bend in the River Dee, and a footpath which takes you all around the park to the elegant Queens Park Bridge.
Follow the walls of the old city, the Roman Deva Victrix, which are an excellent way to see the City from its highest points. Stop off in one of the 20 dog friendly pubs in Chester, and take in its historic cobbled streets, independent shops and high class boutiques.
To the east of Oscroft is the estate at Delamere, which is perfect for a morning or afternoon out. As well as acres of forest woodland, there are themed attractions across the estate, including Go Ape Delamere Forest, where the brave souls amongst you can explore the treetop canopy on a rope course.
The estate also has outdoor eating areas where you can take in the view as well as refreshments.
Ash Cottage is a lovely place to spend some quality time in peace and quiet with close friends or family, not forgetting your four legged best friend. Enjoy the stunning views from your own patio.
The owner’s paddock is there for pooch to stretch out in the mornings, while you plan your day ahead. Pick up the local paths heading to and from Tarvin, the highest point of this part of Cheshire, which stretches out in a flat plain to the east, perfect for walking in.
Head west to Chester, with plenty to please culture and history buffs, or further west still to the North Wales coast, for those who like a traditional British day by the sea. Nature lovers will adore Delamere Forest, with its superb woodland and lakeside walks, ideal for furry friends to explore.
