Things To Do in Droomer, Windermere
Sitting in the very heart of the town of Windermere, itself in the heart of the Lake District National Park, the country’s favourite beauty spot.
The town sits overlooking Lake Windermere, the biggest of the Lakes, and has a pub and plenty of places to eat, ready for the day ahead, or when returning in the evenings. Just down the fell side is the town of Bowness, which sits on the eastern shore of the lake. Bowness boasts many pubs and restaurants, plus shops and places to hire equipment for the many activities available on the Lake.
Adults, kids and pets will all be spoilt for choice in this part of the world, which is geared towards tourists of many kinds. Sightseers and nature lovers will appreciate the Park’s rare birds and mammals, while your furry friends will love exploring the wooded fells and waterside environments.
The whole Park is extremely well mapped out for walkers, with routes graded by difficulty and length. Scafell Pike, England’s tallest mountain, lies to the west across the lake, and is easily visible from Windermere town.
There are plenty of extreme sports hire facilities available, from kayaking to abseiling and all points in between. The many streams (or becks, as they’re known locally) which flow down the hills (fells) are very popular with canoeists and anglers alike, and fishing licences can be obtained via the Park authorities.
Nearby towns include nearby Kendal, while the delightful Appleby in Westmorland is an hour’s drive away. Enjoy the independent shops, pubs and cafes all throughout Lakeland.
Chartfield is a delightful town house which is full of original Lakeland charm, and has plenty of cosy rooms to relax in, however your party is made up. Old and young alike can find the space to do their own thing, and there is state-of-the-art entertainment in the house as well as more traditional pleasures, like curling up by the fire or the wood burner.
Sit outside in the lovely back yard of an evening, and take in the peace and quiet of this superb part of the world. During the day, take a walk through the town, down to the Lake, or head off into the wonders of the National Park.
As well as its natural bounty, the Lakeland towns and villages all have charms for furry friends and humans alike. Chartfield is both a superb home and an ideal base for a special holiday.
