Things To Do in Endmoor, Kendal
The delightful town of Kendal is a short drive from the cottage and is the perfect place for a spot of shopping, whether it’s in a high street favourite or one of Kendal’s independent shops. A daily indoor market and two bustling weekly outdoor markets (held on Wednesdays and Saturdays) are favourites with locals and tourists alike.
Head here for fresh fruit, vegetables, baked goods and much, much more – the ideal place to stock up the fridge at the cottage before whipping up a meal together. Treat yourself to some Kendal Mint Cake, one of the town’s most famous products.
It is a delicious, sweet and minty bar that is made locally and has been transported all over the world by the likes of Sir Edmund Hillary, Sir Ernest Shackleton, Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman. Kendal has an excellent food and drink scene, with traditional and modern coffee shops, bars, restaurants and and pubs rubbing shoulders with one another, serving something to whet everyone’s appetite.
Lake Windermere is the place to go for fresh air, woodland scenery, mountain views and of course, the lake. Enjoy a trip on the lake to the towns along its shoreline or take a walk from Ambleside where some of the most popular walks on the lake start from.
The hills and fells around the lake are also a firm favourite with cyclists. Nestled between Lake Windermere and Coniston Water is Grizedale Forest which has a wealth of mountain biking trails and is also a fantastic place to take a walk with your dog.
There are regular events and activities in the forest, including stargazing over the winter months. Pre-book your place on the guided stargazing walks, wrap up warm and see the constellations and the Milky Way from a whole new perspective.
