Things To Do in Bowness-on-Windermere, Nr Droomer
Hidden in the heart of Bowness-on-Windermere, a short walk away from the bank of Lake Windermere, in the heart of the Lake District National Park. At Jessamy Cottage you will have a host of options right on your doorstep. On the way to the lakeside, there are pubs, restaurants and shops within a few yards of the cottage.
Check out the pet friendly visitor attractions on Lake Windermere, which has something for everyone. Take one of the boat trips across the Lake, and visit the villages of Ambleside or Lakeside. There’s a ferry across to Far Sawrey, running every half hour. Follow the lakeside trails with your four legged friend, or try the much steeper paths up to Far and Near Sawrey, the latter of which overlooks Esthwaite Water and has some spectacular views over Coniston and west to the Irish Sea.
Windermere is Beatrix Potter country, as this landscape inspired the author. As well as the World of Beatrix Potter Attraction in Bowness itself, kids and adults alike will love the Beatrix Potter Gallery and Hawkshead, just to the north of Esthwaite. This gallery has a collection of the author’s original drawings for her books.
To complete the set, Beatrix Potter’s Farm is just outside the village of Near Sawrey. Combine one or more of these attractions with some bracing fellside walks, and pop into one of the lovely country cafes or tea shops along the way for refreshment. Take in the views of the surrounding Lake District from the top of the fells, and don’t forget your selfie stick.
Jessamy Cottage is both a charming country cottage and a town centre base for making the most of the lovely Lakeside town of Bowness-on-Windermere.
With enough room for five adults and kids, plus a well behaved dog, it has plenty of flexibility to fit in with your plans. It would be ideal for a romantic break, especially with its cosy back yard patio overlooking the rooftops and Lake in the evenings.
For more energetic holidays, Bowness is ideally situated for walking, cycling, boating and the host of other activities the Lakes are famous for. The biggest of the Lakes, Windermere has more visitor attractions and options than any other, so you’ll be able to plan days out to suit every member of your group, including your canine companion if you have one.
All in all, Jessamy Cottage is a perfectly charming place to stay.
