This holiday cottage is in a secluded area of a working farm and is reached down an unmade lane. It is all on one level, and there’s 1 double bedroom with an en-suite shower room for 2 people.
One dog is welcome too. The open-plan living space has a comfy sofa area, wood burning fire, dining table with chairs, and a kitchen equipped with a dishwasher, oven and microwave.
There’s a garden with a barbecue and seating area overlooking a pond.

Things To Do in Gun Hill, Nr Heathfield
Heathfield is in the Sussex countryside and not far from Mayfield and Burwash. There are lots of quaint villages to visit, and the South Downs is on the doorstep. Eastbourne and Brighton are a short drive away too.
Mayfield is a picturesque village with an ancient inn that serves great pub food. There’s a handful of stores and a hipster coffee shop that has home-made cakes for sale. Glyndebourne is a world famous opera house where 120 operas are staged each year.
There’s a festival of music here every summer which attracts visitors from all over the globe. Lewes is in the same area, a historical town with medieval streets. There is also the ruins of a Norman castle and Anne Of Cleves’ town house is here too. Artisan shops and boutique gift stores are a big draw here, and so are the tea rooms and cafes. Ditchling Beacon is the highest point around, and offers views that go on for miles.
Eastbourne on the Sussex coast is traditional as they come. A 3-mile promenade is ideal for a slow stroll past Victorian bandstands and the harbour. There’s a pier here to walk along and you can book a boat trip that offers an hour-long cruise that takes you out to sea and past the cliffs and a lighthouse.
Brighton is a little further along and offers a huge range of things to do. The shopping here ranges from high street names to haute couture, and there are antiques, vintage shops and alternative boutiques too. There is every kind of eatery here in Brighton, and pubs and clubs galore.
There is always something happening along the back of the pebble beach – from marathons to bike rides, music raves to art exhibitions. If you can’t find it in Brighton, then is surely doesn’t exist.
If you dream of a secluded holiday cottage in the middle of nowhere, then this place is just what you need. You start to slow down as soon as you reach the country track that takes you the last few metres to the front door.
Once inside The Cart Lodge, you will fall in love with the old beams, rustic furniture, country kitchen and wrought-iron bed.
Your doggy is welcome to stay here with you, and you can all go walking together on the High Weald, it’s an area of outstanding natural beauty. With miles of different pathways to choose from, you can also visit nature reserves and the beautiful Ashdown Forest.
