Things To Do in Ashley Heath, Nr Ringwood
One of Dorset’s most popular attractions, both for locals and tourists alike is the Moors Valley Country Park and it’s just a stone’s throw away from Forest Edge lodge in Ashley Heath. Dogs are welcome at the park and it’s clear to see why. There are walking, running and fitness trails to explore, as well as cycling paths.
Bicycles can be hired at the park or visitors can take their own. For young (and old!) locomotive fans, the Moors Valley Country Park has its very own steam railway line with 19 steam and 2 diesel locomotives, the majority of which were built on site.
Hawk walks can be booked for those who love birds and want to experience falconry in a natural environment. Keen anglers can enjoy the nine acre lake which is fed by the Moors River and for those who enjoy a round of golf, there is a challenging golf course at the park, with a pitch and putt for smaller sports folk.
The seaside town of Bournemouth is just 20 minutes away and its Victorian architecture remains as quaint today as it did during the initial boom of this family favourite.
A paddle in the sea and an ice-cream to the sound of the sea lapping the seashore are a must-do here. A visit to Bournemouth Gardens offers the opportunity to enjoy a 2 mile walk amongst native and international flower and plant varieties, themed events throughout the year and an aviary visit for bird fans.
The annual Christmas Tree Wonderland experience is a firm favourite and lights up the landscape at this special time of year with twinkling fairy lights.
The prospect of seeing ponies and horses wandering the pretty villages of the New Forest National Park is just one way to get in touch with nature in the Dorset area.
The largest extensive area of heathland in Europe, the national park’s mudflats and saltmarshes and ancient forests are home to butterflies, birds and deer. Canoeing, archery and kayaking activities are available for the less faint of heart.
Whether you are holidaying with your dog or with a small family, the owners of Forest Edge lodge will welcome you with open arms. Set within their garden, they are on hand to help with anything you might need.
From a visit to the Moors Valley Country Park to a day trip to Bournemouth, this wonderful single storey cottage is perfect for a relaxing break.
A Jacuzzi shower followed by a glass of wine and your favourite TV show will wash away the stress of everyday life as you relax inside the lodge.
Enjoy dinner on a summer’s evening in the garden followed by some friendly competition in the games room in the company of your loved ones. A holiday at the lodge will really appeal to those who want to escape the commercial side of a holiday resort.
