Things To Do in Lake, Isle of Wight
The town and beach at Lake where the cottage is located offer every amenity you could need for a break as a couple with your favourite four-legged friend. The town of Lake itself has gardens and a park which is perfect for a stroll around or you can head down to the beach along the cliff path.
It’s quite a steep path down but once on the shores with sandstone cliffs in the background you’ll be glad you made the effort. Protected by the cliffs, surfing and water sports are popular here and there is a school offering experiences for anyone looking to do more than just dip their toes in the water.
Located between Sandown and Shanklin, the flat, wide cycle and walking path that runs along the back of the beach at Lake and also connects the two larger towns is perfect for all ages.
Sandown is a popular traditional English seaside resort with Victorian roots. It has amusement arcades, a pier, Victorian and Edwardian buildings converted into hotels and is home to the Isle of Wight Zoo. The Hullabaloo event held in May, brings together art, science, magic and nature–themed workshops and offers something for all tastes and imaginations.
The beach at Sandown was given the enviable accolade of the best British beach for ‘traditional bucket and spade’ holidays by Countryfile magazine in May 2019 so if it’s been a while since you built a sandcastle, you really must do so at Sandown.
Shanklin, also found in Sandown Bay, is one of the most popular destinations for a beach-based holiday on the Isle Of Wight with restaurants, amusements and pubs lining the esplanade.
Shanklin Chine, the famous chalk gorge lined with trees is one place to visit to get in touch with nature and it has been welcoming visitors for two centuries. Visit in summer for the Chine illuminations on an evening and compare it to how it looks in daylight.
Black Pan Holiday Cottage’s owner has worked with animals for over thirty years. The apartment has been designed not just for couples to enjoy but also for four-legged friends.
A doggy welcome pack is available on arrival for those travelling with pooches and the owner goes out of her way to ensure both you and your dog have a wonderful stay.
With the beach just ¾ of a mile away, a shop, pub and restaurant just up the road, it is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy time together as a couple.
From quiet beach walks at Lake against a stunning backdrop of cliffs to the hustle and bustle of the amusements, pier and crazy golf in Sandown to the esplanade and places to eat in beach hut dotted Shanklin.
