Things To Do in Pyworthy, Holsworthy, Bude
Hiding up a country lane in a private courtyard in Carpenters Tinney near the Cornish hamlet of Pyworthy near the border with Devon.
Escape the noise and stress of the big city and recharge your batteries in 11 acres of peace and quiet, with a loved one and maybe the kids for company.
Plus your best furry friend, of course. Shop and cafe 2¾ miles, pub and restaurant 4¼ miles. The fresh air and exercise of Cornwall starts in the grounds of the cottage, which sits in 11 acres of private grounds, and has farm animals which your well behaved pooch will love to meet. A short doggie walk takes you down to the river bank, where you can try your hand at a spot of angling if that’s your sort of thing.
The cottage is in a very rural setting, so the nearest cafe is a longer walk, or short drive, away. Take pooch for a walk by the streams leading east to the River Deer, which flows past the large village of Hopworthy. Stop off at the dog friendly pub on the way into the village, and plan your day ahead.
Devon is just to the east, and a drive down the A3079 will take you to Okehampton, on the edge of Dartmoor National Park.
To the west, and only 8 miles from the cottage, is the Cornish seaside town of Bude. Still retaining its character as a fishing village, Bude also has some great visitor attractions, not to mention superb seaside paths to follow with your canine companion around the harbour, and superb views in and around Summerleaze Beach.
Just to the north of Bude is the Hartland Cornwall Heritage Coast, with dramatic clifftop views and walks hugging the coast around the headland past Stoke. This part of north Cornwall and Devon are home to some of the quieter resorts in the area.
Beech Cottage is a peaceful retreat in the heart of the country, with its own grounds to relax in, away from all modern hustle and bustle.
An ideal spot for a romantic couple, the cottage also has bunk beds in case you want to take the kids, and is somewhere a well behaved, small doggie will love exploring.
Take a walk down to the bottom fields, and follow the river bank or try a spot of fishing. Head off down the country lanes and pick up one of the many streams, paths and bridleways which criss cross the area.
Head for Hopworthy, where you can stop for a rest and a drink and plan your next move; either east for Devon or west for the North Cornish coast.
