Things To Do in Seaton
The nearby Seaton Beach is about a mile long and leads to the town’s harbour on one side and the mouth of the River Axe, shouldered by the beautiful red and white Haven Cliffs, on the other side. Beyond the river mouth lies Devon’s famous Jurassic Coast where many a fossil can be found poking out of the cliff face.
To the west of Seaton is the village of Beer, a few minutes by car but is more enjoyably accessed by a nice walk with your four-legged friend as the views out to sea are breathtaking.
Beer Beach is a true seaside spectacle with fishing boats pulled up on the pebbled shore. Deck chairs and traditional changing huts can be hired. Dogs are allowed on part of the beach.
Beer Beach has it all. You can swim, snorkel and explore rock pools in its tranquil waters. Hire a chartered mackerel boat and keep your catch or take your own tackle out on a self- drive boat for the day. If you are looking for the quintessential seaside experience, this is it. The town itself has a selection of cafes, pubs, restaurants and fish and chip shops for you to enjoy after a relaxing day on the water.
If you are looking for some history, Beer Quarry Caves are a must. Started by the Romans, the quarry has provided stone used to build the Tower of London and 24 cathedrals dotted all over the country, including Westminster Abbey. Take the guided tour to marvel at the 2000 years of history hidden beneath the village.
Apple Tree Annex is on a quiet residential road in Seaton so you will have easy access to local attractions and amenities. The Seaton Tramway is a heritage tram service that takes you to many destinations in the Axe Valley in true olde worlde fashion.
Visit Seaton Jurassic museum to go even further back in time and marvel at the stunning collection of fossils on display.
This cosy yet modern cottage has all the mod cons you could wish for with plenty of space for the whole family, including of course, your faithful furry friend.
The hot tub is a perfect tonic after a ramble on the beach or after exploring Seaton, Beer and the rest of the picturesque Axe Valley.
You have the option of soaking in the local culture and history of the area or taking a soak in the placid waters of Beer Beach.
Boating and fishing, swimming and snorkelling or just lounging in a deck chair, you can go at your own pace. Escape the rat race and relax at Apple Tree Annex. Your family, pooch and all deserve it.
