Things To Do in Horrabridge
This bespoke holiday apartment could not be more ideally placed for nature lovers, dogs and humans included.
Horrabridge is situated on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, and next to the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. These two recognized conservation areas represent some of the most unspoiled land in the UK, and offer unrivalled views, walks and other activities.
The town of Horrabridge, as the name suggests, sits around a bridge, in this case over the River Walkham. For dog lovers who also like a spot of fishing, this is the best of both worlds. Magpie’s Rest is actually right next to the river, away from the main settlement at Horrabridge.
Also next door to Magpies’s Rest is Drake’s Trail. Named after the famous seafarer, who hailed from these parts, the the Trail is a specially designed cycling and walking route. It stretches from Tavistock to the north to Plymouth on the coast. Your four legged friend will love the chance to stretch his or her legs on this unique nature trail – just remember to keep your doggie under control.
If you’re feeling adventurous, you can take your furry friend on the Grenofen Bridge to Double Waters walking route. This takes in some spectacular views of a wooded valley, which you and your dog will love exploring. Grenofen is also the site of an old railway tunnel, designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. This part of Drake’s Trail combines Victorian architecture and engineering with some spectacular Devon landscapes.
Just outside of Horrabridge, Magpie’s Rest is a peaceful and select place to spend some quality time. It give a chance to spend a romantic break, combined with some quality doggie time, all in a truly unique environment.
Not many studio apartments come with their own natural spring for drinking water. As long as both humans and four legged friend can negotiate its 12 steps, you’re all guaranteed the break of a lifetime. A cosy bedroom with a double bed adjoins a sunlit lounge area, and kitchen with both gas and electric cooking facilities.
