Things To Do in Rousdon
Located within the grounds of the Rousdon Estate, a stay here benefits from easy access to woodland walks, pastureland and beautiful countryside as well as the estate’s own private beach.
There is a coastal path to Lyme Regis and Seaton or you can hop in the car and drive there. The estate has its own dedicated walkways and quiet lanes which are perfect for those who prefer to get around on two wheels rather than four.
The cobbled streets of Lyme Regis are only four miles from the cottage. An ancient town which was mentioned in the Domesday Book, Lyme Regis has many a historical tale to tell.
The blue cliffs that line its beaches are the perfect backdrop to a day on its sands or take a walk along the Cobb Harbour and the town’s sandy beach to learn about local history at the Lyme Regis Museum.
The museum has a world-class fossil collection and amazing views of Lyme Bay and the Jurassic Coast. Take a step back in time at the Town Mill, once a mill that lay derelict, the ancient watermill turns again thanks to the volunteer millers and history guides who mill stoneground wholemeal flour every day as well as keeping the space open for local artists, silversmiths and a microbrewery.
The picturesque seaside village of Beer is a short drive away. Located on the UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coast in Devon and surrounded by white chalk cliffs, the town’s shingle beach is famous for its mackerel and you can still see its fishing boats bringing in the day’s catch if you get there early enough.
Beer’s flint-studded buildings are just one of the town’s opportunities for photo taking or see if you can hunt down some fine lace in its local shops –the town was the place where the lace flounce for Queen Victoria’s wedding dress was made by 200 lace makers after all.
Sea View Lodge is ideally located for holidays on the beach at Lyme Regis or along the Jurassic Coast for history fans. The lodge’s hot tub, pretty garden and sun room are perfect for relaxing in at all times of the day.
Eat breakfast with a view of the garden or quickly in the kitchen at its breakfast bar. On an evening or a cooler afternoon, light the wood burner and watch some of your favourite TV shows in the cosy living room.
Stretch your legs along the coastal path to Lyme Regis and Seaton with your canine friend by your side. Breathe in the fresh sea air and spend some time simply relaxing away from the stress of everyday life.
The cottage is perfect for a family getaway or a holiday with friends, with its spacious bedrooms and countryside views out of the windows.
