Map of Area
Things To Do in Holton Heath
A retreat in the countryside, away from the noise and pollution of the modern world. The local forest itself is a huge area of east Dorset, managed by the Forestry Commission.
The area is famed for its Sika deer, which roam the Forest freely. The 7 mile Sika trail is very popular with families, especially those with bikes.
The Woodlark Trail, meanwhile, is a more manageable 2 mile route, which your furry friend will love exploring. The Forest has some amazing wildlife to intrigue the sharpest of doggie noses, which might even come across a Sand Lizard.
Quiet a busy town, Wareham has plenty of shops, pubs and eateries to satisfy you and your four legged friends thirst and appetite, not to mention plenty of shops to stock up on provisions. Wareham also sits right next to the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), and is within doggie walking distance of the west end of Poole Harbour. Here, the rivers Piddle and Frome converge to create some spectacular wetlands, including the Arne Reedbeds National Nature Reserve.
A car or train ride to the east will take you and your furry friend to Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch. These coastal towns have some superb beaches to explore, and plenty of signposted visitor attractions. A particularly popular spot is the Hengistbury Head Visitor Centre, which combines a nature resort with family and dog friendly activities, including an ancient Saxon settlement. The view is also spectacular, taking in Poole Harbour, the English Channel and the Isle of Wight.
For a country getaway, there is surely no better place than this retreat. The wooden lodges fit perfectly into the countryside, yet are fully double glazed and centrally heated.
Forest and country walks are there for the taking, and you and your furry friend can explore the landscape free of charge. World famous visitor attractions and nature reserves are also just a walk, cycle, drive or train ride away.
For a private getaway, or fun-filled doggie adventure, these lodges are just perfect.
