Glastonbury is famous for the huge festival that is held here most summers, but there’s a lot more to this area than the music at Worthy Farm. There’s a thriving town, an abbey and the Tor to discover, plus a motor museum and the Mendip hills too.

Glastonbury town is a quirky place. You can find shops here selling witchcraft objects, crystals and dream catchers, and the cafes serve herbal teas and vegan cakes. Take your doggy too, you will all love the experience and the views from the top are incrediblele.

Glastonbury Abbey has many legends associated with it, including being the burial place of King Arthur. There is plenty to see here including pretty grounds with huge ponds. Just a few minutes from Glastonbury is Clarks Village where there is a shoe museum and a mall of designer outlet shops. Stop here to pick up bargains from Barbour, Levi’s, Jack Wolfskin and lots of other high-end brands.

Car fanatics will enjoy Haynes Motor Museum near Yeovil. With an international collection of 400 plus cars considered the best in the world, you can spend hours here looking at each model. Drive for around 40 minutes north and you reach Cheddar Gorge in the Mendip Hills, a spectacular part of Somerset.

Our Thoughts

Long Barn is the kind of holiday home you will want to return to again and again. The rustic features are charming, and the fittings are top-of-the-range. Being located on a no-through road means it quiet and tranquil at any time of day. The courtyard is perfect for a place to sit and read your book or sip a cold glass of wine.

They welcome one dog here too, so no one has to stay behind. If you can tear yourself away from this converted barn, the things to see around Glastonbury are interesting and varied. From abbeys to spiritual shops, and museums to caves, there is so much to explore.

And if you like to shop for designer clothes, then the outlet mall is just a few miles away in Street for some retail therapy.
